US Navy

For Months there has much been talk of the US Navy coming to the UK to participate in the Exercise Saxon Warrior. Running from the 19th to the 26th May, the USS George H W Bush Carrier Group are using the deployment as work up to support operations in Afghanistan. Finally on the Evening of the 17th May

 " Convoy3682 " a c130 from the US Navy arrived at RNAS Yeovilton in support of the exercise.

Arriving 2 Days later were 2 C2 Greyhounds "Rawhide 01/02" from VRC40 that will use Yeovilton for a 2 Week period whilst the Carrier Air Wing is in the area, shuttling to and from the carrier.

Another Us Navy visitor so far has been the USN C26 Metro , operating between Yeovilton and Northolt as a transport/VIP.

Sadly another ash cloud from Iceland has halted the exercise short and one of the C2s 162154 has returned to the ship early leaving the other behind in the hanger broken.
