Sion  January 2009

Sion airbase is set in a wonderful location deep in a Swiss Mountain Valley.

Unlike some of the remaining Swiss airfields this airbase is slightly more modern than the rest.

Due to the Swiss air force alternating the movement and noise of there aircraft from base to base its good to pick and choose when to visit.

With Payerne and Meiringen taking the last turn to defend the  W.E.F sky

This Year it was Sions turn to provide a Combat Air Patrol during the meetings at Davos.

Knowing the base would be busy and the sun if out, would reach the runway we decided on visiting on the  base 29th/30th January 2009.

Blessed with glorious light and a good covering of snow its all we could have wished for.

Next Years exercise should see Payerne being used as the main operating base.
