Bulgarian International Air Festival 2011

100 Years Bulgarian Airforce

 

With Turkey and the show at Izmir Cigli grabbing all the attention in 2011, this event in Krumuno, Bulgaria very nearly passed without much of my attention. Luckily fairly last minute I decided to go. Unfortunately through other commitments I could only manage to make a flying visit for the Sunday of the Weekend Airshow. Wizzair provided a late Night flight to Sofia and then onwards by rental car to the Airshow early Morning.

The Major highlight for me was the Bulgarian section of the flying display, especially the helicopters and the SU25 which I had never seen one before! The good Swedish Grippen display was beaten by the German Typhoon, only for this to be upstaged by the Russian MIG29OVT which got a fantastic ovation from the Public watching.

After a long Day out in the 32oc Sun all that was left was a drive back to Sofia then a Wizz back into Luton early Monday Morning!
